• The Prius is about the same size as some of the world’s best sellers, such as the Toyota Corolla and VW Golf.

• In the U.K., cars up to the small family size account for about three-quarters of the total market by volume.

• The Prius is also about the smallest size of car to be widely acceptable in North America and Australia.

• The interior dimensions are equal to those of a medium-size car, such as the Toyota Camry.

• The body structure uses sheet steel, although much of it is of high strength. This is still cheaper than aluminium.

• Despite its compact size, the Prius meets all present and known future frontal and side impact requirements.

• The Prius is significantly taller than others in its class. and requires less bending on entry and exit.

• The aerodynamic drag coefficient is 0.29, which is good for a vehicle which is relatively tall and short.

• Lower, limited speeds now apply in most developed countries, which reflect the increasingly crowded roads.

• The taller, shorter vehicle thus represents an organic adaptation to the new environment.
